Sweet Chestnut trees are tall and elegant deciduous trees of pyramidal shape and with elliptical serrated edged green veined foliage. In spring they produce clusters of catkins and in autumn they produce coarsely hairy fruits that contain shiny brown nuts - the sweet chestnuts we roast by the fire.
