A much prized delicacy of Japanese cuisine, it is often found on the side of your sushi plate in restaurants. The flowers buds and young shoots are edible and the mature leaves can be used to wrap food too. For the best tasting buds, grow in dappled sunlight, they have a flavour that is a cross between ginger and onion. Unlike regular ginger, the roots are not edible. Grow indoors or outside, in pots or beds. Move indoors for Winter as they aren’t tolerant of frosts.
