A traditional French heirloom variety producing attractive purple-tinged spears with a tender texture and sweet flavour. Vigorous and hardy, it performs well in a wide range of climates and is ideal for home gardens. The thick spears are excellent eaten fresh, steamed or grilled, and can also be blanched to produce white asparagus. A reliable perennial crop that will provide harvests for many years once established.
