Afourer Mandarin is a highly regarded variety producing delicious, sweet and juicy fruit with a rich mandarin flavour. The fruit has an attractive deep orange skin that is relatively easy to peel and is generally seedless when grown away from compatible pollinating citrus varieties. Fruit typically ripens from late winter into spring, extending the mandarin season beyond many earlier varieties.
A productive, evergreen citrus tree suitable for the home garden or growing in a large pot. Plant in a sunny, sheltered position in fertile, well-drained soil. When container grown, use a good quality potting mix and water regularly, particularly during flowering, fruit development and warmer weather.
Feed regularly during the warmer months with a quality citrus fertiliser. Light pruning can be used to maintain a compact tree around 2m high, making Afourer suitable for smaller gardens and easier harvesting.
