Also known as pineapple guava, feijoa is an evergreen shrub or small tree with a rounded spreading crown and grey-green foliage. Bright red and white flowers attract birds and bees in summer. Feijoa fruits in autumn and early winter with small oval olive-green fruit resembling the flavour of fruit salad. The fruit is ripe when it falls from the tree.
Use as a screening plant for informal hedging - feijoa don't mind being heavily pruned or as a feature tree for your ornamental and kitchen garden.
