Green Calamondin, also known as Calamansi, is a productive evergreen citrus prized for its small, aromatic fruit. The fruit is harvested green or allowed to ripen to orange and has a distinctive sharp, tangy flavour. Calamansi is widely used in Southeast Asian cooking, where its juice is added to drinks, marinades, sauces and dressings, and it can also be used in marmalades and preserves.
An attractive compact tree with glossy green foliage and fragrant white flowers, often carrying flowers and fruit at the same time. It makes an excellent choice for smaller gardens, courtyards and pots.
Can be grown in a large pot using a good quality potting mix and watered regularly. Feed during the warmer months with citrus fertiliser. Prune as required to maintain a compact plant around 2m high.
